(DRAMA)
Logline:
When an ex-call girl is arrested for shoplifting, she’s forced to reveal her part in the murder of a Wall Street client. Only problem is, she’s now a famous actress.
Synopsis:
When Hollywood’s newest “it” girl is arrested for stealing a hat from a Madison Ave. boutique, many think it’s a publicity stunt to give this classic chick some traction. But when federal agents find a gun on Jacqueline Monroe, let’s just say that they’re more than annoyed. For not only had they been building a case of prostitution and insider trading, they had a murder rap linking her to a Mexican druglord. So, the arrest was a stunt, after all; it saved her life.
Or, at the very least, it buys her time. But whom can she trust now? Her attorney, Chantal Abramson, who provided the Wall Street client that wound up dead? And what about her mentor and madam, Natasha Gurdin? Not only did she sell “the best women of every race”, she gave them reading lists and tuition money. She also gave Jacqueline two gifts: her big career break and the briefcase with all the evidence. But now in police custody and destined to be deported, Natasha has reasons to flip.
This brings us to the two lead investigators, Cooper and Wong. Why should Jacqueline tell them the location of the briefcase? To get out of her Riker’s Island hellhole, could Natasha have set one of them against her? And since Chantal had also brought in the Mexican investment firm in question, doesn’t Jacqueline need another attorney? As the bright lights of the interrogation room beam down on her, Jacqueline weaves a tale that’s as plausible as it is deceptive. But when all hell breaks loose in Mexico, the resulting tremor forces everyone’s hand. Forget career: if her life is to mean anything, Jacqueline must confront the corrupt nature of her dreams and the meaning of sacrifice.
